Cat Matlock’s journey with yoga began in the late 1980’s when she took her first yoga class and immediately fell in love with the practice.  She studied yoga and took classes in the many places she lived over the years, including Maui, New York, and North Carolina.

In 2001 and 2004, Cat participated in yoga teacher training programs and became a certified and registered yoga instructor.  She has studied japa mantra recitation, ayurveda and ancestral work with Shri Swamini Mayatitananda.  She is currently enrolled in a Teacher of Mantra certification course with Namadeva, Thomas Ashley-Farrand.  Ms. Matlock has studied yoga with some of the most noted therapeutic yoga instructors of our time, including John Friend and Todd Norian.  Cat also sings and plays harmonium, leading kirtan and chanting.

Cat Matlock became a certified and licensed massage therapist in 1993.  Since then she has worked studying and developing techniques to relieve chronic myofascial pain in her clients.  She has studied with leaders in the fields of fascial work, massage, and anatomy including Tom Myers, fascial expert and developer of “The Anatomy Trains”  and Gil Hedley, integrative anatomist and expert in human dissection.

Cat is the former instructor of Kinesiology, the study of how the body moves, for the Asheville School of Massage and Yoga.  While on faculty, she also taught yoga and integrative massage.  Ms. Matlock has instructed anatomy for yoga teachers in popular teacher training programs and immersions as well as led anatomy courses at her home yoga studio.  Cat is a continuing education instructor of advanced bodywork for massage therapists.
